CAPOW: The Coalition Against Poisoning Our World

PRESS RELEASE: Immediate Release

10/25/99

We currently have three projects designed to:

(1) Bring awareness to the plight of the chemically injured in our country by putting a face on chemical injury

(2) Tie the various groups of chemically injured persons together in a unified voice to enhance our effectiveness in Congress and with regulatory bodies.

(3) Promote activism for our common goals.

These projects are:

1. Earth Web

Similar to the AIDS quilt, the Earth Web is a huge collection of pictures of humans and beloved non-humans throughout the world who have been injured by chemicals. The Earth Web will be available for display at all major environmental functions throughout the world. Donations of funds and pictures of the injured may be made to "Earth Web Project," PO Box 1086, La Veta, Colorado, 81055 USA. The Earth Web Project is sponsored by the Earth Angels Association, a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization.

If you have further questions, please contact Amani R. Booher at Earthweb@excite.com

2. Ribbon Project

The ribbons offer purple (wisdom and power) and yellow (the canary we all symbolize and, of course, "tie a yellow ribbon"). They may be used on web sites to increase awareness of the increasing number of people affected by chemical injury and mark its pervasiveness in our lives, affecting our homes, the Earth, and all living things. You can get more information on the Ribbon Project at http://www.sonic.net/melissk/cheminj.html

If you have any questions or want to join the Ribbon Project, please contact Maggie MacRaven at MMacraven@aol.com

3. Earth Songs CD

We are in the process of collecting songs related to the devastation of our precious Earth for recording on a CD. This CD can be used by groups to raise funds.

If you have songs to add (donate) to this collection, please contact the Earth Songs Collection Chair, Suzanne Fisher at revision@gte.net

Please share this information with your membership in your next newsletter, and consider joining our efforts to bring together all of the persons in our world who are concerned about the damage being done to our earth by toxic man-made chemicals.

Thank you,
Suzanne Fisher
Press Secretary for CAPOW earthsteward@excite.com
